TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE
"CNN Presents: In the Footsteps of Bin Laden," 3 p.m., CNN. Peter Bergen was a CNN producer in 1997 when he worked on an interview of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. He went on to write a book ("The Osama bin Laden I Know"), giving people's memories of the early days. Now that's a source for this documentary, with Christiane Amanpour hosting and Bergen as a producer. It views the transformation of a quiet, rich kid into the leader of international terrorism. Filming was done in 10 countries on four continents. Interviewed were 21 people, from childhood friends to a bodyguard. The show will rerun at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 9-10.
OF NOTE
"World's Funniest Commercials," 6 p.m., TBS. Kevin Nealon and his wife, actress-comedian Susan Yeagley, introduce commercials. A few are American, but the truly hilarious — and sometimes raunchy — ones are from far away. Enjoy the droll humor, when a hidden lover gets a cell-phone call. Or the wild visuals, when a tire falls off and bounces from car to car. Or the prim young woman who needs an apartment where she can scream in ecstasy. You'll soon decide that the rest of the world is a funny and rather sexy place.
"Bones," 7 p.m., Fox. Dr. Temperance Brennan learns that the remains she's been studying are what's left of her mother, who disappeared 15 years ago. Seeley Booth starts an investigation and learns the parents had many secrets.
"30 Days," 7 p.m., FX. There's been a sameness to several of these episodes: Opposites meet and soon find agreement. This time, however, that won't be possible. A pro-choice activist, who had an abortion at 22, stays at a maternity home run by a stridently anti-abortion couple. No agreement is possible here; the best that can happen is an appreciation for the people on the other side.
"The George Lopez Show," 7 and 7:30 p.m., ABC. In the first rerun, George is tempted by a job in small-town Colorado. In the second, Kimberly Williams-Paisley ("According to Jim"), plays the young manager, put in charge of the factory after a merger.
"Prison Break," 8 p.m., Fox. If you missed the season-opener Monday, catch this quick rerun. The convicts have escaped, but their problems are growing. Meanwhile, a calmly brilliant FBI man (William Fichtner) is on their trail.
"Scrubs," 8 and 8:30 p.m., NBC. Now that "America's Got Talent" has concluded, NBC drops in a couple reruns. First is the show's 100th episode, a "Wizard of Oz" take-off. Then comes a return by Thomas Cavanagh (formerly of "Ed"); he's the brother of JD, who won't admit that his romance with Elliot is finished.
"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. A reporter is killed while going undercover as a prostitute.
