Deadline to register for primary is Thursday

There are less than three days left to register to vote in the 2006 primary election. You can sign up until 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Voters must reregister if they have moved or changed their names.

Registered voters unable to get to the polls for the Sept. 23 primary can apply to vote early, either by requesting a ballot by mail until Sept. 16 or visiting a walk-in polling place from Sept. 11 to Sept. 21.

To register or get an absentee voting application, visit www.hawaii.gov/elections/voters/ or pick up the forms at:

  • Satellite city halls

  • Public libraries

  • U.S. post offices

  • Verizon Everything Directory (insert)

  • State services agencies

  • University of Hawai'i system

  • Office of Elections Web site, www.hawaii.gov/elections/
