Raid on Big Isle leads to drug bust

HILO, Hawai'i — Vice officers in West Hawai'i raided a house on Hawaiian Home Lands in Waimea on Friday and arrested two people after seizing marijuana, methamphetamine, firearms and blasting caps, police said.
David Reenan Chong, 45, of Waimea, was charged with six counts of promoting detrimental drugs, four counts of promoting dangerous drugs, four counts possessing drug paraphernalia and four firearms or explosives offenses. He was released after posting $20,250 bail.
Georgette Nohelani Cazimero, 25, of Hawi, was charged with three counts of promoting detrimental drugs, four counts of promoting dangerous drugs and four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia. She was being held yesterday in lieu of $7,100 bail.
Four other adults and a boy were also arrested on the property but were released without being charged, police said. Police said they seized 37 growing marijuana plants ranging from 6 inches to 12 feet tall, along with 7 ounces of dried marijuana, and nearly a half-ounce of crystal methamphetamine. Police said they also seized two firearms, ammunition, blasting caps and a military booby-trap kit.
Personnel of the 706th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team at Schofield Barracks were summoned to dispose of the seized explosives, police said.
