TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Miss USA Pageant," 8 p.m., NBC. This is the 55th anniversary of the competition, now owned by Donald Trump. (That might explain why Donald Trump Jr. is one of the judges.) Nancy O'Dell hosts with Drew Lachey, fresh from his win in "Dancing With the Stars." Carson Kressley ("Queer Eye for the Straight Guy") will do commentary throughout the night. The outgoing Miss USA is Chelsea Cooley, 22, of North Carolina — who has also been a contestant this week in "Celebrity Cooking Showdown." This past year has taken her around the country and beyond — including Thailand, where last summer's Miss Universe pageant was held. This year's pageant (July 23) will be in Los Angeles.

"Celebrity Cooking Showdown," 7 p.m., NBC. Tonight, we learn which of Thursday's finalists has won. Naturally, the show will try to fill up the time before the announcement. Host Alan Thicke will show clips and backstage scenes; he'll also have a contest among the show's expert chefs — Wolfgang Puck, Cat Cora and Govind Armstrong.

OF LOCAL NOTE

"43rd annual Merrie Monarch Festival," 6 p.m., KITV. Competition in hula kahiko (traditional style) dance. Broadcast live from Hilo.

OF NOTE

"What a Girl Wants" (2003), 5 p.m., Nickelodeon. On one level, this movie seems like a pale copy of "The Princess Diaries." In this case, a teen learns her dad is a rich Englishman. Still, the stars (Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth) are likable and the settings are lush.

"Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" (1997), 7 p.m., Fox. This comedy gets shown a lot and is worth catching again. Mike Myers thought of the fun idea of a swinging 1960s spy, unfrozen in modern times. He plays both the hero and the villainous Dr. Evil. And Elizabeth Hurley, Seth Green and Carrie Fisher have fun roles.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. In this rerun, Melinda recognizes the shy girl ghost trying to contact her —a former 4th-grade classmate she couldn't help at the time of her death. Now she has another chance.

"Close to Home," 8 p.m., CBS. A killer insists he can supply the name of the drug boss who hired him — if he gets a lighter sentence. Annabeth scrambles for another way to get the information.

"Numb3rs," 9 p.m., CBS. Don's former girlfriend, a federal agent, has apparently committed suicide. He's not so sure. In her home life there are reasons she might have committed suicide, but at work there are reasons she might have been murdered.
