Hawaiian starts San Jose service

Hawaiian Airlines tomorrow will launch nonstop daily service between San Jose, Calif., and Honolulu.

San Jose is the fifth city in California and the ninth Mainland destination served by Hawaiian Airlines. The airline will welcome the inaugural flight with traditional festivities at Honolulu International Airport featuring Hawaiian music, hula and fresh flower lei for all arriving passengers. The flight is scheduled to arrive at 11:55 a.m.


CHAMBER BOARD TO MAKE DEBUT

The Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce will introduce its new board of directors at an event from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Sam Choy's restaurant on Nimitz Highway.

In addition, there will be special displays highlighting members' businesses. The evening will include food, drinks and door prizes. Cost is $20 for members in advance and $25 at the door. Non-members will be charged $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For more information, call Dirk Soma at 520-8277.

Founded in 1974, the group promotes the interests of Native Hawaiians engaged in business and the professions.


HORIZON LINES SHARES MOVE UP

Shares of Horizon Lines Inc. rose yesterday in the company's first day of trading after an initial public offering.

The shipping company's stock closed at $10.75, above its IPO offer price of $10 a share. Horizon's 12.5 million shares priced Monday night at the low end of the $10 to $12 range it set in its most recent prospectus. That revised range was well below the company's original target of $15 to $17 a share.

Horizon is the second-largest shipping company serving Hawai'i.


NAN INC. WINS $30M CONTRACT

Honolulu-based Nan Inc. was awarded a $30 million contract for "whole barracks renewal" at Schofield Barracks. The job is expected to be completed by January 2008.

Nan was chosen from two bidders. The contract is with the Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Shafter.
