Ronn Dayton, a veteran film actor and Waikiki resident who doubled for Frankie Avalon in the "Beach Party" films, died Aug. 27 in Reno, Nev., of complications following heart surgery.

Born in Chicago in 1934, Dayton was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and worked in the Hollywood movie business as an actor, double and stand-in for nearly three decades before moving to Hawai'i in the 1980s.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Moore of Riverton, Kan., and several nieces and nephews.

According to his close friend, Don Beckwith, "Ronn was full of life ... always upbeat. His sudden death came as a shock to his family and many good friends."

In accordance with Dayton's wishes, no public service will be held. Dayton was cremated in Reno, Nev., and his ashes will be scattered privately.
