OIA playoffs open Friday

The O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red or Division I playoffs start this weekend with fourth and fifth seeds playing for the opportunity to take on the top-seeded teams in the quarterfinals two weekends from now.
West fifth seed Leilehua will play East fourth seed Farrington at 7 p.m. Friday at 'Aiea, while East fifth seed McKinley takes on West fourth seed 'Aiea at Mililani at 4 p.m. Saturday. The sites and times were set up to accommodate OC16, which is televising the games live.
The top three seeded teams from each division — Castle, Kahuku and Kailua from the East, and Mililani, Wai'anae and Kapolei from the West — draw byes and play the following weekend. Dates and sites are to be determined, OIA football coordinator Harold Tanaka said.
Meanwhile, the White is into its final weekend of regular-season play with three of four berths determined. Radford (6-0), Moanalua (6-1) and Campbell (5-1) are in. There are three teams — Kaiser (3-3), Kalaheo (2-4) and Waialua (2-4) — in contention for the fourth berth.
Kaiser clinches the berth with a win at Waialua on Saturday. If Kalaheo beats Waipahu on Saturday and Waialua wins, all three will have 3-4 records. Among them, each beat one, but not the other, so a coin toss would determine the order of seeding and fourth seed.
Meanwhile, the top three teams are still vying for seeding order. A Radford win at Campbell Friday gives the Rams first with Moanalua, which has a bye, taking second and the Sabers finishing third. But if the Sabers win, all three would be 6-1. Since each beat one, but not the other, a coin toss determines the seeding order.
