A task force credited with reducing truancy at Campbell High School was awarded the 2005 national Weed & Seed Award for excellence in addressing juvenile problems.

The award was presented yesterday to the Honolulu Police Department's Weed & Seed detail in 'Ewa Beach, Campbell High School, the state Juvenile Justice Center, the Honolulu prosecutor's office and other state and city agencies.

The task force helped to improve Campbell's school attendance from 89.2 percent in the 2000-01 school year to 91.5 in 2002-03.
