More than $354.2 million in military construction projects will come to Hawai'i under an appropriations bill approved by Congress yesterday.

The bill must now be signed by the president.

If the 16 military construction projects contained in the appropriations bill are combined with Hawai'i-based projects in another bill now before a House-Senate conference committee, Hawai'i could get as much as $838 million in military spending, not including payroll or day-to-day operations, according to a statement by Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.

Among the projects Inouye cited in the military construction measure:

  • The Army's Helemano Military Reservation Drum Road Upgrade, Phase II, $41 million.

  • Pohakuloa Training Area Battle Area Complex, Saddle Road Phase IV and Tactical Wash Facility, $60.3 million.

  • Schofield Barracks, Barracks Complex Phase 1, Vehicle Maintenance Facility Phase II and Modified Urban Assault Course, $78.56 million total.

  • Marine Corps Kane'ohe Bay Family Housing Initiative and the Camp Smith Fire Station, $71.9 million total.

  • The Navy's Pearl Harbor Pacific Warfighting Center, $29.7 million.

  • The Air Force's Hickam Air Force Base Electrical Distribution System upgrade, Phase III; Intelligence Squadron Operations Facility construction and Kennel Facility, $14.86 million total.

  • The Air National Guard's F-15 Aircraft Rinse Facility at Hickam Air Force Base, $2.5 million.

  • The Air Force Reserve's Consolidated Training at Hickam Air Force Base, $6.45 million.

  • The Defense-wide Regional Security Operations Center replacement, $48.97 million.
