TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002), 7 p.m., ABC. Just as the fourth "Harry Potter" movie reaches theaters, viewers get one more chance to catch the second one. It's an entertaining swirl of adventure and special effects. In the first movie, Harry was a wide-eyed newcomer with two friends and no idea what was happening in this school for magicians. Now he's recognized for his skill; that lets him dig into the dark secrets of a force that is literally freezing the kids. Such gifted British actors as Alan Rickman, Maggie Harris, Robbie Coltrane and the late Richard Harris play school staffers. Joining them this time is Kenneth Branagh, playing a magic teacher with a huge ego. All of them are caught in a blur of threats and illusion, skillfully directed by Chris Columbus, who also did the first film. There are some scary moments and some moments of jaw-dropping excitement. Both, alas, are likely to seem mellower on a TV screen.

OF NOTE

"Black Hawk Down" (2001), 6 p.m., FX. Here's the true story of American soldiers who had to shoot their way out of Somalia against fierce odds. Ridley Scott ("Gladiator") directed an impressive cast that includes Josh Hartnett and Ewan McGregor, plus Eric Bana of "Hulk," William Fichtner of "Invasion" and Tom Hardy, who is excellent in PBS' current "The Virgin Queen" miniseries.

"Without a Trace," 7 p.m., CBS. This rerun focuses on a guy who insisted he was once abducted by aliens and insists it could happen again. Now he has, indeed, vanished.

"CSI: Miami," 8 p.m., CBS. This rerun has two parents making angry accusations during a child custody case. Then someone shoots at them outside the courthouse.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m., NBC. In a rerun, a teen baseball star is accused of rape; he blames it on steroids. The case gets Stabler in trouble so he turns to a psychiatrist, played by Mary Stuart Masterson.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. This one could be fun because the host is Eva Longoria of "Desperate Housewives." Korn is the musical guest.
