New Mexico sophomore midfielder David Gualdarama, a 2004 Kamehameha graduate, is leading the second-seeded Lobos into the Division I Men's Soccer Championships beginning Friday.
New Mexico (15-1-2) received a first-round bye and plays the winner of Bradley and Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the second round.
Other men's players from Hawai'i in the tournament are:
Southern Methodist (10-5-3) senior forward Duke Hashimoto (Iolani '02 of Kapolei) is playing San Francisco (11-5-4).
Brown (10-4-2) junior goalkeeper David Semenza (Punahou '03 of Honolulu) is playing Rhode Island (13-7-2).
Dartmouth (10-2-6) senior midfielder J.P. Barbosa (Punahou of Honolulu) plays the winner of St. John's and Marist.
Santa Clara (12-6-2) junior forward Keith DeVey (St. Anthony '02 of Kula) plays Ohio State (11-7-2).
WOMEN'S NCAA TOURNAMENT
Pepperdine defenders Kelsey Baker (freshman, Punahou '05 of Honolulu) and Ashlee Doi (junior, Mililani '02) are the lone women's soccer players from Hawai'i still in the NCAA Women's Division I Soccer Tournament.
The Waves (15-3-3) advanced to the Sweet 16 and play 17-time national champion North Carolina (22-1). The College Cup — college soccer's Final Four — is Dec. 2 to 4 at College Station, Texas.
Pepperdine defeated Mississippi, 1-0, in Friday's first round, and beat Samford, 2-0, in the second round Sunday.
Here's how other players from Hawai'i fared:
Boston, with senior midfielder Tiffany Taylor (Punahou '01 of Kane'ohe), defeated Connecticut, 1-0 in double overtime in the first round Thursday.
Boston lost to Boston College, 1-0, in Saturday's second round.
Duke, with sophomore goalkeeper Allison Lipsher (Punahou '04 of Hawai'i Kai), defeated Fairfield, 4-0, in the first round Friday.
Duke lost to Yale, 2-1, in Sunday's second round.
Brigham Young, with senior midfielder Charlene Lui (Punahou '02 of Honolulu), lost to Weber State in penalty kicks (4-3), after tying 1-1, in the first round Thursday.
UNLV, with senior midfielder/defender Lori Sakai (Iolani '02 of Mililani), lost to Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, in overtime in the first round Friday.
Gonzaga, with freshman midfielder Dayna Omiya (Iolani of Pearl City), lost to Southern California, 1-0, in the first round Friday.
MEN'S SOCCER
Southern Methodist senior forward Duke Hashimoto (Iolani '02 of Kapolei) was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year.
Hashimoto led the Mustangs with 19 points and eight goals, including a conference-best four game-winners.
Hashimoto earned a spot on the All-Conference USA first team.
UC Irvine junior midfielder Scott Shiraishi (Iolani '03 of Honolulu) had an assist on UCI's second goal in the 32nd minute in an upset of No. 11 Cal State Northridge, 2-1, on Nov. 9.
California Institute of Technology senior midfielder Christopher "Alika" Ah New (Kamehameha '02) was the team's leading scorer with five goals.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Princeton senior defender Romy Trigg-Smith (Punahou '02 of Kailua) was named to the Ivy League first team for the second consecutive season.
Trigg-Smith anchored the defensive line and scored two goals.
She was also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II second team.
Cornell senior midfielder Kara Ishikawa (Iolani '02 of Mililani) was named to the Ivy League second team for the second straight season, after scoring seven goals with three assists for 17 points.
Oregon senior forward Nicole Garbin (Baldwin '01 of Wailuku) was named to the Pac-10 Conference second team for the second time.
Garbin scored a school-record 10 goals in 2005 and set another Oregon mark with seven game-winning goals. She also moved into the top two in virtually every UO career offensive category, including goals (2nd, 22), assists (1st, 14), points (2nd, 58), game-winning goals (1st, 13) and shots (1st, 173).
She was also an all-Pac-10 second-team selection in 2003.
Azusa Pacific junior midfielder Jolie Nitta (Mililani '02) and junior forward/midfielder Mari Kasamoto (Iolani of Honolulu) are leading the Cougars back to the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament for the eighth straight year.
Azusa Pacific (16-0-4) earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament, which begins today and runs through Nov. 22 at Olathe, Kan.
The Cougars were the No. 1-ranked team in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll and will open play against the Indiana Wesleyan (18-1-2)/Park (8-8-3) winner Thursday.
Azusa Pacific received an automatic berth into the national championships by winning the NAIA Region II championship in a 1-0 win over Point Loma Nazarene (San Diego) on Nov. 8.
Point Loma Nazarene junior defender Elizabeth Kalama (Kamehameha) scored in a 2-1 win against Menlo in an NAIA Region II Playoff Nov. 1.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Hofstra (Hempstead, N.Y.) sophomore setter Shellane Ogoshi (Roosevelt '04 of Honolulu) earned her third Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week award after leading Hofstra to a 3-1 win over Northeastern on Saturday.
Ogoshi, who shared the award with Virginia Commonwealth's Melissa Peterson, posted match-highs of 50 assists and 32 digs and also added six kills and two aces. Ogoshi's 32 digs were a career high.
Siena College (Loudonville, N.Y.) freshman libero Kathi Kobayashi (Punahou '05 of 'Aiea) had 24 digs against Manhattan College Saturday and added 13 digs against Saint Peter's Sunday.
FOOTBALL
Grossmont College (El Cajon, Calif.) freshman outside linebacker Derek Hinkley (Punahou '04 of Kane'ohe) had five tackles, including a sack, in a 64-3 victory over San Diego Mesa College on Saturday for Grossmont's 27th straight conference victory.
Gavilan College (Gilroy, Calif.) sophomore wide receiver Shane Butcher (Saint Louis '03) caught two touchdown passes, including a 74-yarder with 4:34 left in the game for the go-ahead score, in a 19-16 win against Cabrillo College on Nov. 5.
Colby (Waterville, Maine) senior defensive back Travis Agustin (Iolani '02) had two tackles in a 28-3 win over Bowdoin (Brunswick, Maine) in his final game Saturday.
Occidental (Los Angeles) senior safety Derek Turbin (Punahou '02) recorded seven tackles, including six solo, in a 47-16 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday to finish the regular season undefeated (9-0).
Turbin also blocked an extra-point attempt.
CMS senior running back Teo Bennett (Iolani '02 of Kapolei) carried the ball 10 times for 54 yards, with one touchdown.
SWIMMING
UC Irvine sophomore Chelsea Nagata (Maui '04 of Kahului) was named the Big West Athlete of the Week on Nov. 9, for her performance at the Big West Shootout.
Nagata won all three of her events: 50 free (23.77), 100 back (57.02) and 100 fly (56.01).
Boston College senior Kurt Zwald (Punahou '02) won the 200 butterfly (2:06.46) and was second in the 100 butterfly (57.20) in a dual meet against Providence on Nov. 9.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Stanford freshman Mari Chun (Kamehameha '05) won her match-up against Arkansas' Sarah Trew, 4 and 3, at the Collegiate Match Play Championships at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., on Saturday.
Stanford lost to Arkansas, 3-2-0, in the winners' consolation.
Chun lost to Purdue's Maria Hernandez, 3 and 2, as Stanford lost, 4-1-0.
WRESTLING
Pacific (Forest Grove, Ore.) sophomore Ashley Truchan (Hilo) finished third in the 72 kg division (158.4 pounds) during the Mike Clock Open at the Pacific Athletic Center Sunday.
Truchan beat Lassen's Juana Juarez for third place, 7-0, 1-1.
