Mid-Pac, Kapa'a advance to final

Mid-Pacific advanced to tonight's championship game of the HHSAA/NewCityNissan.com Boys Division II State Volleyball Championships by beating Seabury Hall, 25-20, 13-25, 25-22, last night at Punahou.

Reese Haine led Mid-Pacific with 16 kills. Seabury Hall's Tye Perdido also had 16 kills.

Mid-Pacific, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up, will meet Kapa'a, the Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champion, for the inaugural Division II title at 8 p.m.

The Warriors swept 'Aiea, 25-11, 25-10, in the second semifinal. Kaina Kahaunaele had five kills and Chaz Galvez and Lyndon Pascual added four kills each for Kapa'a.

CONSOLATION

WAIPAHU DEF. HILO: Malosi Saolotoga had seven kills and six digs as Waipahu won, 25-17, 22-25, 25-12. Paul Fai added seven kills and Arthur Fanene had seven digs for the Marauders. Waipahu takes on Hawai'i Baptist in the fifth-place match at 5 p.m. today.

HAWAI'I BAPTIST DEF. HANA: Sean Lum put down eight kills and Dominic Hart added seven as Hawai'i Baptist won, 25-20, 25-16. Louis Hoopaii III and Harold Kaiwi had six kills apiece for Hana.

LAUPAHOEHOE DEF. WAIALUA: Jason Ignacio had eight kills and three blocks and Laupahoehoe won, 28-26, 25-21. Marnick Dela Cruz led Waialua with eight kills. The Seasiders will face Ka'u for seventh-place match at 3:30 p.m.
