Police looking for 80-year-old

Ceriaco Tanudtanud

Honolulu police are seeking information on the whereabouts of 80-year-old Ceriaco Tanudtanud, who was last seen getting into a black cab at 6:30 a.m. Nov. 1 at his Kopke Street home in Kalihi. Tanudtanud suffers from Alzheimer's disease.

Tanudtanud may have caught a flight to Hilo that day, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer James Vasconcellos at 529-3064, CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on a cell phone.

HGEA DEPUTY TO LEAD AFL-CIO

Randy Perreira, the deputy executive director of the Hawai'i Government Employees Association, is the new president of the Hawai'i State AFL-CIO.

The umbrella group represents more than 80,000 workers from more than 60 labor unions. Perreira, who has been with the HGEA for 22 years, told delegates at a convention in Hono-lulu last week that unions should work together to retain the Democratic majority in the state Legislature.

He replaces Harold Dias.

OLD COMPUTERS TO BE RECYCLED

Hawai'i Computers for Kids, the Rotary Club of Metropolitan Honolulu and CompUSA are sponsoring a computer recycling day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 604 Ala Moana.

Old computers, printers, monitors, modems, software and other equipment received will be donated to schools statewide. Donations are tax-deductible.

YULE WREATH SALE BENEFITS VETERANS

The 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans are holding their annual Christmas Wreath sale to benefit the veterans programs. The fresh wreaths are $20 each and must be ordered by Nov. 20.

Wreaths must be reserved, and there are no walk-in sales. Call 946-0272.

HECO APPEALS FOR CONSERVATION

Hawaiian Electric Co. is asking its O'ahu residential customers to conserve electricity to help avoid power failures.

Two HECO generating units and HPOWER are operating at one-half to three-quarters of their normal capacity because of problems encountered over the weekend, according to HECO.

In addition, two other generating units were offline for repair work and scheduled maintenance, while another unit was shut down for emergency maintenance.

The peak hours for residential use are weekdays from 5 to 9 p.m.


KALIHI

JUDO CLUB MOVES BACK TO YMCA

Kalihi YMCA Judo Club will celebrate its 50th anniversary and a homecoming Saturday with a Shinto blessing and buffet luncheon.

The club, founded by Theodore Ventula, is moving back to the Kalihi YMCA, which has a new four-story building, after being displaced for two years by construction work. Ventula's family, former Kalihi YMCA director Philip Chun and karate notable Pat Nakata are among the special guests who will attend the celebration.

Kalihi YMCA is at 1335 Kalihi St. near the Kalihi-Palama Library.

TENTING TO CLOSE PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Waikiki-Kapahulu Public Library, 400 Kapahulu Ave., will be closed for tent fumigation during the Veterans Day weekend, Friday to Monday. The book drop will reopen Sunday and the library will reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
