LATE-NIGHT DISPUTE LEADS TO ARREST

A 41-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of multiple felony offenses following a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend late Tuesday night near the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The woman, 26, told police her ex-boyfriend saw her pull into the parking lot of a convenience store at the corner of Atkinson Drive and Kapi'olani Boulevard about 11 p.m. and that he jumped into her car without permission.

The man argued with her, threatened to beat her up, forced his way behind the wheel of the woman's car and drove behind the store, police said.

The woman was able to get out of her car and into a friend's car and left the area to file a report with police.

Police found the woman's car about 4:15 a.m. yesterday and arrested the former boyfriend for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, unauthorized control of a motor vehicle and second-degree terroristic threatening.
