COCONUT WIRELESS: Nothing official yet, but it looks like U2 may be heading for Honolulu, with an April playdate at Aloha Stadium. The Irish band would be here directly from Down Under gigs March 21 in Brisbane, March 25 in Melbourne and March 28 in Adelaide, which would suggest an early-April show. Frontman Bono recently was chosen Time's Person of the Year, along with Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda. Clear Channel would promote the concert, U2's first here since 1985. NAMES 'N' PLACES: That was moviemaker Garry Marshall on his annual yuletide holiday at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawaii hotel a few days back. Marshall, a former writer for "Gomer Pyle, USMC," which shot Jim Nabors to international fame, lunched with localite Nabors at the Veranda, along with Carolyn Berry. Berry is a member of the Honolulu Symphony board of directors, and she has extended her support of the arts to Diamond Head Theatre. Thank her as one who helped DHT mount "Aladdin Jr." ...

KHON's Leslie Wilcox wanted to show her Lokahi kids a "whale" of a good time during the holidays, so she teamed up with Atlantis Adventures to enable 250 kids and parents from Keiki O Ka 'Aina in Kalihi and the Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center in Wai'anae to take a morning cruise last Tuesday. Aboard the Navatek I, the Lokahi guests cruised from Aloha Tower Marketplace to Koko Head in smooth seas and beautiful weather; there were whale sightings, too. Atlantic tossed in breakfast for everyone and gifts for each child. That's really what Christmas is all about — giving, sharing. ...

And the O Lounge, at 1349 Kapi'olani Blvd., hosted more than 100 homeless children and their parents last Thursday, courtesy of club owner Elizabeth Hata Watanabe, who worked with the Christmas Wish Program to bring cheer to the needy. ...

Out Maui way, the second art exhibit of works by Paul Stanley (of Kiss) at the Celebrities Gallery in Wailea drew a crowd last Thursday, including actors Michael Madsen ("Kill Bill," "Reservoir Dogs," "Free Willy") and Richard Chamberlain ("The Thorn Birds," "Dr. Kildare," and an Island resident). Socialite Paris Hilton ("The Simple Life") also was there briefly, but opted to go Christmas shopping. ...

ITEMIZATIONS: KSSK'S Larry Price (who's the right-hand partner of left-sider Michael W. Perry) had bypass surgery earlier this month — the reason he's been off the air. Some folks thought Price was on a long vacation, but since he's heard on some prerecorded segments, it's been confusing. He's recuperating at home. ...

Great fun at the Christmas concert last Thursday by Na Leo and guest star Keali'i Reichel at Blaisdell Concert Hall. Reichel did two songs with Nalani Choy, Lehua Kalima Heine and Angela Morales, including "Silent Night." Don't be surprised if the trio winds up on his anticipated Christmas CD next Christmas. ...

His name Jose Jiminez — he live Nashville now. That would be Bill Dana, one-time Honolulu and Hana resident, who relocated to country music turf with his wife, Evy. He has been involved in the American Comedy Archives Web site (www.emerson.edu/comedy), a project of his alma mater, Emerson College in Boston. He e-mailed because one of his co-compositions, "Christmas in Hawai'i," was recorded this year by Danny Couch. Couch didn't know of Dana's co-authorship of the tune, which was also written by the late Teddy Randazzo. Couch, who tweaked some of the lyrics, since has contacted Dana, and the authorship will be corrected in future pressings of the CD. ...
