Hawai'i tennis teams win National Western Regionals

Two Hawai'i tennis teams won titles at the USTA National Western Regional Mixed Doubles Championships last month at Waikoloa, Hawai'i.
It was Hawai'i's first titles in this tournament.
Hawai'i's DMS Office Machine defeated WestEnd/Duke of Southern California, 3-0, in the finals of the 9.0 championships on Nov. 18. They finished the tournament 6-0.
DMS team members were William Liston (captain), Jan Tribler, Jun Samia, Edie Ruiz, Yoshi Manabe, Ean Smith, Sheldon Kennell, Mimi Kennell, Loni Matsunaga, Mark Kobayashi, Rene Takushi, Lori Chang and Lance Au.
DMS defeated Carmel VAC MX 9.0A of Northern California, 2-1, in the semifinals.
In the 6.0 competition, Hawai'i's No Sked 'Em defeated 60MX PTC Bonifasi of Phoenix, 3-0, in the title match.
No Sked 'Em team members were Jason Arakaki (captain), Benny Neumann (co-captain), Jason Furuta, Jo Shimada, Melissa Hirano, Kara Sing Chow, Dayna Porcelli, Cherie Dang, Stuart Shimoda, Mitsuhiro Murakawa, Russ Kadooka, Ryan Perreira, Toby Arakaki and Tiara Lyn Nariyoshi.
No Sked 'Em defeated Santa Clara GT MX6.0A, 3-0, in the semifinals.
The teams had to win their local league on O'ahu, and then the Hawai'i Sectionals to reach the National Western Regional.
Hawai'i also had representatives in the 8.0 and 10.0 championships. In the 8.0, Hawai'i's Ala Moana Mano lost to Dallas, 2-1, in the semifinals. In the 10.0, Hawai'i's Bonus finished fourth at 1-3.
The Hawai'i Adult Mixed Doubles League team is for adults 19 and older.
