  • FLOREN ELMAN-SINGH, an international program development and marketing specialist, has been named public information specialist for East-West Center's Office of External Affairs. She previously was executive director of Hawai'i's Plantation Village, the multi-ethnic museum and education center in Waipahu.

  • SCOTT LARSON has been named chief financial officer of Oceanic Institute, the nonprofit marine research organization located in Makapu'u. Experienced in raising capital, implementing accounting systems, and building business plans and financial models, Larson is former chief financial officer at Moana Technologies LLC.

  • ALFRED MUELLER has been named sous chef at the Big Island's Hilton Waikoloa Village. His responsibilities include menu planning, development for all nine resort restaurants, training duties and creation of the resort's annual holiday train display.

  • COLLEEN KOJIMA has been named executive director of The Arc in Hawai'i. She is the former chief executive officer of Select Specialty Hospital, a long-term acute-care hospital within The Queen's Medical Center. The Arc in Hawai'i is a private, not-for-profit corporation that operates 21 residences and four adult day health centers, and advocates for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities, and their families.

  • REYNA KANEKO has been named director of product to market for The Girl Scout Council of Hawai'i. Kaneko, who has more than 30 years of experience in sales and marketing, will oversee the scouts' product marketing and development efforts, including their signature cookie sales statewide. Also, former News 8 producer TAMMY SUMIDA YAMANOHA has been named director of communications for the council. She will oversee overall communications, including internal and external communications, public relations, advocacy, media and crisis communications.

  • ALVIN FUKUYAMA, president of State Termite Pest Control Inc., has been elected president of the Hawai'i Pest Control Association for the second consecutive year. Other officers include first vice president, Rodney Ono of Hilo Termite and Pest Control; second vice president, Terrance Manago of Integrated Pest Management; third vice president, Jerry Edlao of Accu-Pest and Termite Control, Maui; secretary, Cliff Nakamura of Orkin Pest Control, and treasurer, David Jones of Horizon Pest Management, Big Island.

  • Wade Nelson has been named the new faith-based relations coordinator for Habitat for Humanity Maui, under the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program. The federal program provides full-time members to nonprofit, faith-based and other community organizations and public agencies for programs aiding low-income individuals and communities. Nelson will be working with faith-based organizations on Maui to increase volunteer participation in Habitat's Christian housing ministry and ReStore in Happy Valley, Maui.
