Probe closed on ex-Bankoh executive

Bank of Hawaii Corp. said the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission has ended its investigation into allegations of improper mutual fund trades by a former bank executive, and has decided not to recommend any enforcement action.

The SEC had investigated alleged excessive and late trades by a former employee in the New Asia Growth Fund. A Bank of Hawaii subsidiary serves as New Asia's investment adviser.

The SEC didn't recommend enforcement against Bank of Hawaii Corp., the Asset Management Group of Bank of Hawaii, or any of the present or former officers.


KAISER NURSES OK 23% PAY HIKE

Registered nurses at Kaiser Permanente ratified a three-year contract that calls for a 23-percent pay hike over the life of the pact, the Hawaii Nurses Association said.

About 500 of the 780 eligible nurses cast ballots, with 91 percent voting to ratify the contract. The new contract also includes "language to ensure safe staffing levels," increased pay differentials and an option to enter a health and welfare trust fund for retiree medical benefits.


DELTA AIR MAKES ITS KONA DEBUT

Delta Airlines' first flight to Kona is set to arrive today with a welcome ceremony that will include hula dancers, Hawaiian music and a lei greeting for passengers.

Delta Flight 343, which originates in Atlanta and stops in Salt Lake City, is scheduled to arrive at Kona International Airport at 6:30 p.m. Delta will offer the daily service with a Boeing 767-400. The return flight departs Kona at 11:50 p.m.


HARRY WINSTON OPENS MONDAY

New York-based jewelry maker and retailer Harry Winston Inc. plans to open its first Hawai'i store on Monday, at Ala Moana Center.

The new Harry Winston Salon is the 10th location for the company known for bejeweling celebrities and donating the Hope Diamond to the Smithsonian Institution.
