Honolulu Symphony Pops conductor Matt Catingub won't take home a Grammy in February if the best jazz vocal-nominated soundtrack from director George Clooney's "Good Night, and Good Luck" wins. That'll be vocalist Dianne Reeves. But should Reeves win, she had better thank Catingub for arranging music, writing an original song and accompanying her on saxophone for the soundtrack.
You can already call the conductor "Grammy nominated-Matt Catingub," though. Catingub was nominated along with Rosemary Clooney and the rest of the Pops for best traditional pop vocal album for the live disc "Last Concert" in 2003.
Congratulations also to symphony artistic adviser JoAnn Falletta, who will take home a Grammy if soloist Thomas Stacy and the London Symphony Orchestra win in the best instrumental soloist performance (with orchestra) category, for "Eventide." Falletta conducted the performance from the CD "Fuchs: An American Place."
