Disney, Gilliom seek local talent for shows

Two auditions, one for a Disney theatrical show and the other for hula dancers in Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom's forthcoming Japan tour, offer out-of-town work in the months ahead.
The Disney production is "Aladdin," at Disney's California Adventure.
Actor-singers are sought for the romantic lead roles of Aladdin and Jasmine, as well as for Genie and Jafar, comedic character and villain of the piece. The open call is for specific types and voices:
Auditions will be held noon to 6 p.m. tomorrow and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday at Ballet Hawaii headquarters, Dole Cannery, 650 Iwilei Road, second floor. Candidates should bring a photo and resume and perform an audition song appropriate to the role. John Bryan will provide accompaniment. Gilliom is seeking 10 female and two male hula dancers 18 or older to begin touring in mid-May. Applicants must fill out an entry form, available by e-mailing halealiikaumaha@yahoo.com; a $125 entry fee is required. Deadline to apply is Dec. 27. Robert Cazimero will assist in the audition process, to be held either Jan. 20 or 21, at the Pacific Beach Hotel. Dancers must be able to perform 'auana or kahiko; live and recorded music may be part of the audition. Dancers' expenses will be paid, in addition to a salary of $500 to $600 per show.
