Heavy rains over Windward O'ahu and elsewhere last night prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash-flood warning for O'ahu and the Big Island.
One of the hardest-hit areas was Waimanalo, where rain gauges measured more than three inches per hour as of 6:45 p.m., forecasters said.
Kailua also was experiencing heavy rain.
Officials advised people to avoid streams and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
On the Big Island, radar showed heavy rain over the Ka'u coast between Wood Valley and Na'alehu. Other locations getting a lot of rain were Kawa Flats, Pahala, Honu'apo and Ninole.
The weather service canceled the flash-flood warning at 9 p.m.
