It's time for TACo — that's the Teen Acting Company — at the Honolulu Theatre for Youth.
Young actors, 13 to 18, are invited to sign up to live and breathe theater from Sept. 8 through May.
By doing so, teen performers will work with Hester Kamin and perfect their acting skills while exploring the prospective avenues of the stage, tapping such elements as improvisation and character development, stage combat, the use of masks on stage, and movement strategies, including circus techniques.
There will be workshops, field trips, free tickets to all HTY shows — and the opportunity to interact with HTY's staff of professional actors and mentors, led by drama education director Daniel A. Kelin II.
The comprehensive program has expanded the drama education experience for youths, who will be able to collaborate to create and perform their own original theatrical works during the course of the session.
Rehearsals are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at Maryknoll School. Cost is $250 for the term; space is limited.
To register, call HTY at 839-9885, ext. 14.
