Advertiser Staff
Three trampoline national champions from Hawai'i were named to the United States team that will compete in the International Age Group Games, Sept. 22 to 24, at Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
Nani Vercruyssen, 13, and Matt Moniz, 18, won national championships at the U.S. (Elite) Championships, while Spencer Dupio, 14, won a national title in the Junior Olympics National Championships in Houston last month.
Others winning national titles at the Junior Olympics National Championships were Dorothy Sanidad, 5, Kelsen Onigama, 10, and Mia Vercruyssen, 15. They are too young to compete internationally or competed at novice skill levels.
The results:
Nani Vercruyssen was first in junior elite (level 11) trampoline (fourth among all elite women) and second in junior elite double mini-trampoline (third among all elite women). Combined with wins at the U.S. Elite Challenge in June, these results have qualified her as the top-ranked 13- to 14-year-old athlete on the U.S. trampoline and double mini-trampoline teams in the International Age Group Games.
Moniz finished first and 12th, respectively, in junior elite double mini-trampoline and trampoline.
Dupio (boys 13-14) placed first in level 10 double mini-trampoline, ninth on level 10 trampoline and sixth on Level 7 tumbling.
Onigama (boys 10-under) placed first on level 10 trampoline, second on level 10 double mini-tramp, second in Level 10 synchronized trampoline (with teammate Spencer Madanay) and fourth in level 8 tumbling.
Mia Vercruyssen (girls 15-16) placed third in level 5 trampoline, first in level 5 double mini-tramp and fourth in level 5 tumbling.
Sanidad (girls 6-under) placed third in level 5 trampoline, first in Level 5 double mini-trampoline, and fifth in level 5 tumbling.
