After leading Saint Louis to its first Interscholastic League of Honolulu championship since 1989, senior ace Chris Chung was named ILH Player of the Year in a recent vote of league coaches.

Chung, a hard-throwing right-hander, pitched in almost every pivotal game for the Crusaders and went 5-0 with two saves, a 3.71 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 39 innings.

He also held opposing batters to a combined .208 average.

Saint Louis and Mid-Pacific led the way with four players each named to the all-star first team.

The Crusaders landed Chung, second baseman Jordan Fukumoto, outfielder Kaeo Aliviado and designated hitter Moses Samia. MPI was represented by first baseman Ryan Muraoka, shortstop Justin Protacio, catcher Dane Fujinaka and pitcher Lawrence Chew.

Kamehameha placed third baseman T.C. Campbell and outfielder Bryson Kenolio, and Punahou was represented by outfielder Michael Suiter and utility player Kaiana Eldredge. 'Iolani pitcher Sheldon Lee rounds out the first team.

Saint Louis' George Gusman was named Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm. The Crusaders needed to win a playoff game against Mid-Pacific after each of the regular season's two rounds.
