Conference on Literature and Hawaii's Children is June 17 through 19

The 15th annual biennial Conference on Literature and Hawai'is Children will feature award-winning authors Linda Sue Park and Brian Selznick June 17 through 19 on the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus.

"Inventing Worlds, Imaginary and Real," begins June 17 with a 7 p.m. presentation of Korean dance and a talk by Selznick (Caldecott winning illustrator of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret"). Friday and Saturday events, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. include talks, workshops and chlidren's activities by guests including Newbery Award-winning author Linda Sue Park ("A Single Shard").

Three strands of presentations and discussions are planned : interpreting literature (ways of reading material for young people); using literature (activities to use with children at home, at school or in the library) and creating literature (writing, illustrating and publishing original works).
