FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Karlos Dansby isn’t signed, sealed and delivered, but by Saturday morning the former Arizona Cardinals linebacker should be, beginning his relocation to South Florida.

A source close to the situation confirmed Dansby has agreed to a five-year, $43 million contract with the Miami Dolphins after an intense day of negotiations.
According to the source, the framework of the deal still needs to be hammered out, but it will likely pay the six-year veteran $22 million in guaranteed money.
Dansby is coming off his second consecutive 100 plus-tackle season. He has spent the past two years as an inside linebacker in Arizona’s 3-4 scheme, and will likely unseat Channing Crowder for that role with the Dolphins.
Crowder will likely move over to the Moe inside linebacker spot, which was held by Akin Ayodele the past two years.
Friday, the Dolphins cut Ayodele, outside linebacker Joey Porter and free safety Gibril Wilson as part of the salary purge this year’s uncapped season allows.
The release of those three players saves the franchise roughly $32 million, which is what Porter ($9.5 million over the next two years), Wilson ($18.7 over the next four years) and Ayodele ($3.75 million in the final year) were due on their contracts.
The Dolphins pursued Dansby from the start of free agency early Friday, making sure they were his first stop. They are hoping he’ll help revitalize a stale defense, which was average against the run, inconsistent applying pressure to quarterbacks and susceptible to deep passes.
Dansby, 28, has produced 25.5 sacks and 10 interceptions in his six seasons, and the Dolphins hope he’ll continue to make game-changing plays on their rebuilt defense.
