KHON2 announced today that KITV weekend sports anchor Rob DeMello is joining the Channel 2 news team next month and his on-air debut will be in June.

DeMello will be the new weekend sports anchor working with sports director Kanoa Leahey.

John Veneri, the current weekend sports anchor, is taking on a new role as KHON2 marketing director.

DeMello is a graduate of Kailua High School and Hawaii Pacific University and was the weekend sports anchor at KITV since 2005.
