A 33-year-old Waianae man was killed Tuesday in the crash of a pickup truck on H-1 Freeway.
The medical examiner's office on Wednesday identified him as David Roberts.
Police said the 1991 Toyota was headed east, in the area of Kualakai Parkway, when it veered right, struck a grass embankment and overturned shortly after 6 p.m.
Roberts, who was driving the truck, was ejected. His passenger, a 33-year-old Waianae woman, was pulled from the vehicle before it caught fire.
Roberts was taken in critical condition to Hawaii Medical Center West, where he was pronounced dead at 6:44.
The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.
Police said the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed. They said they have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs were involved.
Eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed until 9 p.m.
Police said Roberts is Oahu's 30th traffic fatality of the year, compared to 29 at the same time last year.
