Soap actor spending his summer with Shakespeare

Jason Tam, last seen on Broadway as Paul in the 2006 revival of "A Chorus Line" and currently playing Markko Rivera on ABC's "One Life to Live," will spend his summer in New York's Shakespeare in the Park program, culminating in a production late July and August. Tam, 27, is taking a brief hiatus from the soap opera to focus on The Bard, since the highly prestigious gig among Broadway actors will include intense training and workshops, before showtime. No surprise, then, that parents James and Linda Tam are heading to The Big Apple in August. ...

FILM CLIPS: Broadway's Loretta Ables Sayre (Bloody Mary in Lincoln Center's "South Pacific") hopes her role in "Sex and the City 2" (the scene's in the trailer) makes the final cut, when the movie premieres Thursday. ...

Ables Sayre also will be in the "Live From Lincoln Center" taping Aug. 18 of "South Pacific," before the show's Aug. 22 closing, for eventual airing on PBS. ...

She also had a reunion with "Glee" star Matthew Morrison (he plays Will Schuester), who originated the Lt. Cable role in "South Pacific." "He can barely stand still for two minutes before he is surrounded by girls wanting to take a picture with him," Ables Sayre said. "He's a rock star." And a one-time Hono-lulan, too; before his fame, he was a backup performer with Don Ho's Waikīkī show. He's finishing his solo CD. ...

"Hawaii Five-0" has landed the 9 p.m. Monday slot on CBS' fall schedule; and filming resumes here with Alex O'Loughlin shortly. And Tom "Magnum" Selleck returns to CBS primetime in New York-based newbie "Blue Bloods," at 9 p.m. Fridays. ...

The tune will be on a keepsake World Cup album dropping June 1, featuring R. Kelly, Shakira, John Legend, Wyclef Jean and M2J, a group Lam formed with Japan hip-hopper DJ Muro. ...
