New 'Five-0' to air Monday nights

Advertiser Staff

The CBS remake of "Hawaii Five-0" will air at 9 p.m. Monday nights, the network announced today during its official unveiling of its new primetime series and schedule.

Whether the beloved crime drama will premiere in the fall or in January was not announced.

The network did reveal some of the backstory for the series, which still follows the adventures of an elite crime-fighting unit led by Detective Steve McGarrett.

Alex O'Loughlin will star as McGarrett, a decorated Naval officer-turned-police officer who returns to Hawaii to investigate his father's murder, CBS said.

McGarrett still has his familiar sidekick, Danno Williams, who will be played by Scott Caan. He's a relocated ex-New Jersey cop who prefers skyscrapers to the coastline but is committed to keeping the Islands safe for his 8-year-old daughter.

Daniel Dae Kim will play Chin Ho Kelly, an ex-Honolulu police detective wrongly accused of corruption and relegated to a federal security patrol. Chin's cousin Kono, to be played by Grace Park, is described by the network as a beautiful and fearless native, fresh out of the academy and eager to establish herself among the department's elite.

McGarrett vows to bring closure to his father's case, and while the state's new "Five-0" unit might spar and jest among themselves, they are determined to eliminate the seedy elements from the 50th state.

Peter Lenkov, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.
