Las Cruces, N.M.

Aloha,

Today was a suspenseful day awaiting the decision for our Regional site.

We started off the day with a lifting session at the New Mexico State weight room and some running around their football practice field. To top it off we ran up this huge hill next to their football field. If you haven't been to New Mexico State before, the hill could be described as a small mountain.

After our training we went back to the hotel, showered, and headed for the outlet mall (we all love to shop). After the mall everyone's nerves began to go on edge as we anxiously waited for the NCAA selection show.

The coaches set up a dinner at a local eatery where we would be able to watch the selections on huge theater-like TV screens. As we finished our dinners and the countdown to the selection show started, the mood in the room was electric.

The show started off mentioning how the freshmen this year have stepped up, and the announcers mentioned our freshman phenom, Kelly Majam. So from the start of the show Hawai'i was getting shout-outs.

After seeing the first region at Alabama, Hawai'i flashed up on the screen under the Stanford Regional, along with Texas Tech and UC Davis. Everyone in the restaurant began to cheer and throw their hands in the air.

They showed clips from our WAC championship game, and mentioned how we have "shattered" the home run record set by Arizona last year. After the news sunk in I looked around the table and everyone was on their cell phones, talking to friends and family. We are all so excited and ready to get this show on the road.

Tomorrow starts a new mission, win the Regionals.

Earlier this season, we played Stanford and UC Davis. We beat UC Davis and split two games with Stanford. It is always nice going into a tournament having some knowledge about who we will be playing.

We have a full practice at 11 a.m. at New Mexico State, which will be very nice because we haven't been able to have a full practice in over a week. After practice we will find out our traveling arrangements for our departure to Stanford. We are all so excited and I know we are going to come out focused and ready to play.

GO 'BOWS!
