City begins sewer renovation project along Kalanianaole Highway

A year-long sewer renovation project on Kalanianaole Highway from Niu Valley to Wailupe Beach Park and along the Kahala Beach coastline is scheduled to get under way today.

The city said work will include rehabilitation of 7,400 feet of 24- and 30-inch pipe with cured-in-place lining; improving 1,700 feet of 8- and 10-inch pipe with cured-in-place lining; revitalizing 19 manholes; and cleaning 11,800 feet of 24-, 30- and 36-inch pipe.

The project, to be performed by Insituform Technologies for $9.2 million, is expected to be completed by April 2011.

Motorists are advised that traffic will be affected.
