Punahou, Hawaii Baptist top seeds

The Punahou and Hawai'i Baptist boys volleyball teams drew the top seeds for the New City Nissan/HHSAA State Championships.

Defending champion Punahou (20-0) is the top seed in the Division I tournament, which starts Wednesday with first-round matches at McKinley and Kaimukī.

O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion Roosevelt (16-0) is seeded second, Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion Kamehameha-Hawai'i (16-0) is third and Maui Interscholastic League champion Baldwin (11-1) is fourth. All four seeds get first-round byes.

Two-time state champion Hawai'i Baptist (18-3) is the top seed in the Division II tournament, which starts Thursday at Kalani and Farrington. OIA champion Moanalua (15-0) is second, MIL champion Seabury Hall (9-0) is third and BIIF champion Pāhoa (13-4) is fourth.

The Division II final is Saturday at 5 p.m. at McKinley with the Division I final to follow.
