Drunk woman passed out in driveway run over by truck

Advertiser Staff

A pickup truck ran over an intoxicated woman passed out in a driveway in Kaka'ako on Friday night, police said.

The driver of the truck apparently did not see the woman.

The 43-year-old victim was taken in critical condition to The Queen's Medical Center with head and internal injuries.

The driver of the brown F-350 Ford pickup, a 26-year-old Kāne'ohe man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old Kāne'ohe woman, were not injured.

Police said the incident happened about 11:43 p.m. on 'Āhui Street, 95 feet north of Pohukaina Street and in the area of Pipeline Cafe.

The victim, of Kapolei, was intoxicated and passed out in a driveway on 'Āhui Street when the pickup ran over her in trying to execute a three-point turn, police said.

The pickup then backed up, driving over the woman again.

Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors on the part of the driver, and speed was also not a factor.
