MLB: A-Rod ties Frank Robinson with 586th career HR

Associated Press

BOSTON — Alex Rodriguez has tied Frank Robinson for seventh place with 586 career homers.

Rodriguez's third homer of the season, a solo shot, just cleared the left-field wall in the fourth inning of the New York Yankees game against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night. It cut Boston's lead to 6-2.

Robinson, elected to the Hall of Fame in 1982, played for the Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels and Cleveland Indians from 1956 to 1976.

Rodriguez's homer was his 21st at Fenway Park, tying Jim Thome for the most by an active opponent. Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle top the overall list with 38 each.
