MLB: Mariners put Milton Bradley on restricted list

TIM BOOTH

SEATTLE — Milton Bradley has been placed on the restricted list by the Seattle Mariners after asking the team for help in dealing with "emotional stress" from personal issues.

The Mariners made the move Thursday before their series finale against Tampa Bay. Outfielder Michael Saunders was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to add depth on Seattle's bench.

The move came a day after Bradley met with manager Don Wakamatsu and general manager Jack Zduriencik and asked for help in dealing with his issues. Wakamatsu said before Thursday's game that Bradley met with a counselor earlier in the afternoon and all reports are the session went well.

While on the restricted list, Bradley cannot be in uniform or with the team. He will miss at least five days, but Zduriencik said the team chose not to put him on the 15-day disabled list.
