Hawaii mail carriers ask residents to help 'Stamp Out Hunger'

Advertiser Staff

Mail carriers in Hawaii will be participating in the U.S. Postal Service's annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive Saturday.

Residents are asked to donate non-perishable foods to their local food banks by placing the items next to their mail boxes just before their usual pickup times.

Mail carriers will gather the food and take it back to their post offices, where employees and their families will sort the items,

Last year, about 1,000 Hawaii mail carriers collected more than 580,000 pounds of food.
