NEW ORLEANS — Former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson says he is scheduled to speak early next week with the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Hornets about each teams' coaching vacancy.
Club representatives will meet Johnson in Texas — the Sixers on Monday and the Hornets on Tuesday, Johnson said Saturday.
Johnson has been working as a TV analyst for ESPN, which first reported Johnson's plans.
A Hornets spokesman says the team has no comment at this time and the 76ers say they do not comment on coaching searches.
Johnson coached in Dallas for three-plus seasons. He guided the Mavs to an NBA Finals appearance in 2006, but was fired after a first-round playoff series loss to New Orleans in 2008.
