Writing retreat offered at Windward Campus

Advertiser Staff

A writing retreat is slated for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the University of Hawaii’s Windward Campus, Hale Akoakoa 107 and 109.
The retreat is not class, exactly. Rather, an opportunity to meet and write in company with other beginning and experienced writers and tap into mutual creative energy.
After introductions, organizers will collect ideas in response to a starter prompt, then participants will draft a story, poem, memoir, argument or whatever. The drafts will be read in small groups, and writers will be offered non-critical reader responses.
Anyone over age 16 is welcome to attend. Bring writing materials, a sack lunch, and a mug for coffee or tea. A food contribution for the morning snack table is welcome, but it is not necessary. Fee: $5 (non-refundable).
For more information, contact the Office of Continuing and Community Education, 235-7433, or send e-mail to wccocet@hawaii.edu.
