KITV4 expanding Saturday news coverage

Advertiser Staff

KITV4 News plans to add 30 minutes of local news to its Saturday lineup starting May 1.

The station announced on its Web site today that Pamela Young will anchor a 6 to 6:30 p.m. show.
Currently, KITV4 News has a newscast at 5 p.m. followed by ABC World News at 5:30 p.m. KITV4 will now become Hawaii’s first and only local station to provide 90 minutes of Saturday evening news.
“We received positive feedback after expanding our weeknight 10 p.m. newscast to a full hour last fall,” said Mike Rosenberg, KITV President and general manager, in a statement. “We believe our viewers not only want more news but can be better served with the addition of local news on Saturday.”
KITV4 News Director Genie Garner said one of the station’s goals is to strengthen local news coverage in the state.
