Diners around Oahu can support kids in Haiti

Advertiser Staff

Starting tomorrow, diners can support 1013's UNICEF Tap Project at participating restaurants for World Water Week.

Through March 27, restaurants will accept $1 donations for tap water normally given for free to raise money to provide clean water for children around the world, with an emphasis on Haiti, which has been plagued by water-borne illnesses and famine since the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake.

Participating restaurants include all Big City Diner locations, The Contemporary Café at The Contemporary Museum, Duke's Waikiki, Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas, JJ Dolan's, Kona Brewing Co. in Hawai'i Kai and Kona, Los Chaparros Mexican Restaurant, Subway in Waipi'o, thirtyninehotel, The Wedding Café, Tiki's Grill & Bar and Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar.

Mid-Pacific Institute and St. Francis School have incorporated the Tap Project into their curriculum to educate students about water, sustainability, compassion and philanthropy. The schools designed the table tents and collection containers that will be placed at the restaurants.
