Hawai'i senior Corie Hou shot a season-best 71 to finish third yesterday at the 25th annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kāne'ohe Klipper.

The Rainbow Wahine (308926) placed sixth in the 17-team field, their highest finish of the season.

Hawai'i also finished sixth last year, when Hou was fourth individually. The Australian had a 54-hole total of 6-over-par 222 this week, and her second top-five finish in the last three starts.

"When putts drop for her she can play well," said UH coach Lori Castillo. "It's not the mechanics of the golf swing for her, it's a matter of making a few putts and getting her confidence."

Rollins, ranked third among NCAA Division II schools, won the team title by a shot with 904. Rollins overtook Nova Southeastern DII's top-ranked team with a final-round 298. Nova (302905) was second and San Francisco (300906) third.

Fresno State sophomore Louisa Lies rode a tournament-record 6-under 66 in the first round to medalist honors. Lies shot 74 yesterday for a 216 total. Nova's Sandra Changuina (73221) was second.

UH junior Brittany Bomar (78233) tied for 22nd, her best finish of the season. Freshman Ka'ili Britos (79236) was 33rd, sophomore Erika Lundberg (80238) 42nd and freshman Brigitte Baker (81240) 51st. Senior Erin Matsuoka, participating as an individual, was 69th at 85247.

UH goes to California in two weeks for its final regular-season tournament, the Anteater Invitational.
