Helping Hands Hawaii gets $3.1M for service programs

Helping Hands Hawaii has received more than $3 million in the past six months to expand its services to the community. The grants totalling $3,149,037 came from various government and private sources.

The agency listed the grants and recipient programs as follows:
• $2,130,000 from the Hawaiçi Public Housing Authority for the Childcare Assistance Program to help families who recently experienced a reduction in state-funded childcare subsidies.
• $500,000 from the City and County of Honolulu for the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.
• $400,000 from the state Department of Human Services for statewide emergency financial and school supply assistance through the Community Clearinghouse & Ready to Learn programs.
• $68,250 from the Department of Human Services and the Hawaii Community Foundation for SNAP Outreach to assist individuals and families in accessing SNAP benefits (also known as “food stamps”).
• $50,787 from Aloha United Way for homelessness prevention services through the Community Clearinghouse.
Helping Hands Hawaii is a local non-profit social service agency which administers a range of behavioral health and human services programs.
