Makaha man arrested as suspect in robbery

Advertiser Staff

An 18-year-old Makaha man has been arrested in connection with a robbery reported yesterday by a 19-year-old man.

Police said the older man reported getting off a city bus in the Waianae area and walking home about 2 a.m. when an unknown person threw a glass bottle, which struck him in the leg.
The man who was hit by the bottle told police two other men approached him moments later and that one of them punched him in the face causing him to fall to the ground.
He said he covered his face and was then kicked while one of the men took a knapsack from him.
The man told police the two assailants left and that he did not report the incident until later in the day because he recognized one of the men from school and was afraid to call police.
A suspect in the case was arrested at his home on Hana Street about 11 a.m.
