Lahainaluna's Viela is Gatorade's top player

Lahainaluna junior point guard Maiki Viela was named the Gatorade Hawai'i Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
The 5-foot-7 guard led Lunas to the Division I state championship last month. She averaged 16.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and four assists per game this season, including 20.3 points per game in the state tournament.
Viela is eligible for the National Girls Basketball Player of the Year award.
