Firefighters mop up after two brush fires

Firefighters have doused two brushfires on Kaukonahua Road below Kamannui Road and Poamoho Street in Wahiawa.

The first brush fire was reported at 5:02 p.m.tonight above Poamoho Street near the roadside and was out within five minutes of firefighters arriving, said Honolulu Fire Capt. Debbi Eleneki said.
The second fire was at reported at 5:07 p.m. below Kamananui Road and was put out quickly, too, using an engine company and tanker truck with the help of the engine company from the first brush fire, Eleneki said. The fire burned about half an acre. Firefighters used hand lines to contain and put out the fire.
