Lane closure scheduled on Queen Street Friday

Advertiser Staff

The Ewa-bound curb lane of Queen Street between Punchbowl Street and Richards Street and all lanes of Mililani Street between Queen Street and Merchant Street will be closed Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. to facilitate work being done in the Old Federal Building (Downtown Post Office and State Office Building).
Although traffic is anticipated to be lighter than usual because of furlough Friday, the public is encouraged to avoid the Queen Street and Mililani Street in this area to minimize traffic congestion.
Special duty police officers will be on hand to assist traffic flow through the closures.
Tour buses that normally pick up and drop off passengers on Mililani Street will be routed to a designated area on the Ewa side of Punchbowl Street between South King Street and Queen Street.
Equipment must be set up around the exterior of the historic old federal/post office building. Because of the historic nature of the building, equipment must be set up a certain distance away so as not to damage the structure, requiring closure of the Queen Street lane and Mililani Street.
