Neurologist sues Tripler Army Medical Center over premature retirement

Associated Press

HONOLULU — A neurologist is suing Tripler Army Medical Center, alleging a pattern of harassment, retaliation and violations of constitutional rights led to his premature retirement from active duty medical service.

Col. Michael B. Russo is alleging his superiors retaliated against him when he protested substandard care and advocated for patients’ rights.
He says the hospital fabricated charges against him and required that he submit to a psychiatric evaluation.
Russo’s lawsuit seeks a preliminary injunction to prevent Tripler officials from taking action that would jeopardize Russo’s medical career after he leaves the service.
A Tripler spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
