Baltimore couldn't pass up the opportunity to add a talented pass catcher to its roster: three-time Pro Bowl standout Anquan Boldin.

Baltimore obtained Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals yesterday for a third- and fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft. Baltimore also got a fifth-round pick from Arizona.

The 29-year-old Boldin has amassed at least 1,000 yards receiving in five of his seven seasons, including 1,024 yards on 84 catches last season.

Boldin, who is 6 feet 1 and 217 pounds, received a new four-year, $28 million deal with Baltimore in which $10 million is guaranteed. He was set to earn $3 million next season, the last of the four-year, $22.5 million deal he signed with Arizona after the 2005 season.

"The Ravens just got better," coach John Harbaugh said. "Anquan is a significant addition for us. He fits the personality of our team with the hard-nosed, physical way he plays. We love the way he competes. Our fans will enjoy watching him compete and his teammates will be excited to have him with us."

LAW AND ORDER

QB ROETHLISBERGER BEING INVESTIGATED

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is being investigated on allegations of sexual assault at a Georgia nightclub, police said yesterday.

Officers said the alleged assault occurred early yesterday morning in Milledgeville, about 85 miles southeast of Atlanta. The player owns a home nearby.

The two-time Super Bowl champion and some of his friends were seen visiting local restaurants and bars Thursday night.

"He's been identified as being at the scene and there are allegations naming him as the perpetrator," Deputy Chief Richard Malone said.

Malone said Roethlisberger had been with three other people who were mingling with another group that included the alleged victim. Malone said the woman and her party contacted a nearby police officer following the alleged assault.

Separately, Roethlisberger has been sued by a woman who claims he raped her in 2008 at a Lake Tahoe hotel.

BROWNS

RETURN SPECIALIST CRIBBS GETS DEAL

Pro Bowl return specialist Josh Cribbs finally has a new three-year contract with Cleveland.

After two seasons of threats, broken promises and back-and-forth negotiations, the Browns have restructured the final three years of the six-year deal Cribbs signed in 2006.

The deal includes $7.5 million in guaranteed money and the total value has been reported at over $18 million.

Cribbs, who also plays wide receiver, is the NFL's career leader with eight kickoff returns for touchdowns.

ELSEWHERE

Dolphins: Linebacker Karlos Dansby is cashing in on free agency with Miami. Dansby agreed to a $43 million, five-year deal, including $22 million guaranteed, a person familiar with the negotiations said. Dansby played inside linebacker last season for Arizona and can also play outside linebacker.

• Four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Joey Porter is again a free agent, and this time his release by Miami is expected to stick. The Dolphins terminated the contracts of Porter, linebacker Akin Ayodele and safety Gibril Wilson. Miami released the disgruntled Porter last month, but he reverted to the roster because of a salary cap technicality.

Lions: Detroit upgraded its defense by trading with Cleveland for tackle Corey Williams and agreeing to a four-year deal with end Kyle Vanden Bosch. For Williams, Detroit sent a fifth-round pick in April's draft to the Browns in exchange for the tackle and a seventh-round choice. Vanden Bosch spent the past five seasons with the Titans, getting all of his 43 1/2 career sacks.

Giants: The New York Giants have made Pro Bowler Antrel Rolle the richest safety in the NFL. In the waning hours of the opening day of free agency, Rolle, 27, signed a five-year, $37 million contract that has $15 million in guaranteed money. Rolle, who was recently released by Arizona, had four interceptions last season.

Colts: Indianapolis has re-signed middle linebacker Gary Brackett, the leader of its defense. Brackett, the defensive team captain, has had more than 100 tackles in each of the past five seasons. The Indianapolis Star reported the deal was for five years and worth $33 million, and included a $12 million signing bonus.

Falcons: A person familiar with the negotiations said Atlanta agreed to terms on a six-year deal with free-agent cornerback Dunta Robinson, who had 13 interceptions in the past six seasons with Houston. Financial terms of the agreement were not immediately available. Robinson is from Athens, Ga.

Panthers: Carolina released defensive tackles Damione Lewis and Maake Kemoeatu, and linebackers Na'il Diggs and Landon Johnson. Kemoeatu, a Kahuku High alum, suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon during training camp in 2009 and was placed on injured reserve.

Eagles: Philadelphia has agreed to a three-year contract with All-Pro fullback Leonard Weaver. The deal reportedly is worth $11 million, including $6.5 million guaranteed.

Jets: New York acquired Antonio Cromartie from San Diego reportedly for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2011 that could become a second-rounder based on the cornerback's production.

Patriots: New England re-signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Tully Banta-Cain. Last year, he had a career-high 10 sacks and 60 total tackles while starting 10 games.
