Nimitz lanes to shut for water-main leak detection

Advertiser Staff

Traffic will be restricted on Nimitz Highway tonight when the Board of Water Supply tries to find a leak in an 8-inch water main at the intersection of Nimitz and Alakea Street.

Starting at 7 p.m., only two lanes of traffic will be open on Nimitz in the west-bound direction at Alakea. The far-right lane of Nimitz and the turn lane from Nimitz on to Alakea Street will be closed as a leak-detection team works to pinpoint the leak.

Crews hope to finish before the morning rush hour and the repair work will be planned and scheduled for night work later this week.
